University Reference Lab (URL) The University Reference Laboratory provides esoteric and specialized testing services, offers new technologies and services as they become clinically relevant and financially feasible, and ensures the continuing local availability of specialized laboratory tests and services for outreach. With the trend towards outpatient medicine, URL ambulatory testing has continued to increase. URL continues to be the dominant testing site for medical toxicology and therapeutic drug monitoring in central Ohio Molecular Pathology Lab The Molecular Pathology Laboratory at The Ohio State University Medical Center has been providing state of the art diagnostic and carrier testing to families and individuals with an increased risk of inheritable disorders since 1990. The Laboratory performs complex genetic testing of high technical quality following accepted ethical guidelines. Dr. Thomas Prior, PhD, the laboratory director, is board certified in Clinical Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. The laboratory is certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP - LAP#1637801, AU-ID 1182122) and is a CLIA certified facility (CLIA# 36D0329129). The OSU Molecular Pathology Laboratory uses accepted validation criteria for assay development and participates in internal and external quality assurance programs, including sample exchanges and proficiency testing.
