What do we do?
TAS provides access to diagnostic paraffin block archives
for research purposes. The OSU Department of Pathology's
collection of archival specimens dates back to 1968, which
is comprised of approximately 600,000 cases. Access to these
specimens for clinical trials and research requires IRB
approval. All blocks are retained by the TAS and only made
available to Pathology Core Facility (PCF) for subsampling.
Steps to access services :
- Contact TAS staff.
- Discuss the project.
- Submit application request, IRB status and billing information.
- TAS staff conducts computer generated searches of available cases.
- Slides (H&E) are pulled and reviewed by a pathologist.
- Paraffin blocks are selected.
- TAS staff sends blocks to lab for cutting/processing.
- Processed specimens are returned to the TAS.
- Information regarding processed material is sent to
the investigator.
- Distributed to the investigator.
